Travel

By car

From the M11, take either Junction 11 or 12 and follow the signs for Cambridge City Centre. Car parking is limited and expensive in Cambridge and parking is not available at St Catharine’s but the College does provide a Cambridge Around St Catharine’s map which shows the location of several public parking areas near the College. There is also information at the Parking in Cambridge

The Park and Ride system is the easiest and cheapest way of getting into central Cambridge.

Please note that Cambridge centre is largely pedestrianised. To enforce this there are rising barricades, which are not always shown on SatNavs.

By bus/coach

The Bus Station is shown on the Cambridge Around St Catharine’s map and is within walking distance of the College. For information about Coach Services to Cambridge see theUniversity or Cambridge City Council web sites.

From London: There are coach services to Cambridge from Victoria Coach Station about once an hour.

Travelling by rail

From London: Direct departures from London to Cambridge are available on average every ten to fifteen minutes throughout the day. Travellers can choose to travel from London Kings Cross on First Capital Connect or from London Liverpool Street Station with National Express East Anglia. The trip will take from forty-five minutes (non-stop train from Kings Cross) to an hour and a half (slow train from King’s Cross and trains from Liverpool Street).

Eurostar: It is easy to get to Cambridge if you are travelling by Eurostar from Europe. Eurostar will take you directly to St Pancras International Station. King’s Cross Station is just next door to St Pancras and you can get direct trains from there to Cambridge.

Please note: Cambridge Railway Station is not in the city centre. It is about 1.3 miles (1.6km) from St Catharine’s. There is a taxi rank outside the station and there are also regular buses to the City Centre – further information is available at the Cambridgeshire Council website.

Arriving by air:

There is a two hourly National Express coach service from Stansted to Cambridge (Numbers 727 and797) and services also run from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Birmingham and Manchester.
